The 2019-2020 summer period highlighted the environmental issues Australia faces. This resulted in a Royal Commission to investigate how, as a nation, we can better coordinate, prepare, respond and recover to such events. .

CROSS Aviation, a division of CROSS Asia Pacific Pty Ltd, is in the regulatory process to  introduce Type 2 Fixed Wing air tankers into the national arsenal of aerial fire suppression assets. These proven, multi-role aircraft have been in operation overseas for over a decade and provide the following capabilities:

• Airtanker fire suppression with a drop capability of 10,000 litres of water, retardant or foam.
• In the passenger configuration, the aero plane can carry 64 passengers.
• The cargo configuration allows 9000kg of cargo and can be configured as a combi aircraft with a mix of passengers and cargo.
• A medical evacuation capability can accommodate six stretchers along with the necessary nurses’ stations and life support equipment.

Sovereign Approach in Response and Recovery with a Difference

CROSS Asia Pacific Pty Ltd believes that we need an Australian owned fleet to be available year-round, Nationwide, to assist States and Territory Governments to respond to and aid in the recovery from disasters. We are working on proposals with Type 1 Helicopters for a National Sovereign Fleet to be based regionally for faster response to event situations.
