Aerial Support in times of need
Natural disasters have become a predictable annual event in Australia. The effects of changing climate conditions and the cyclical Southern Oscillation weather pattern present significant challenges in the coordination, preparedness for, response to and recovery from disasters. This impacts the ability to protect environmental and infrastructure assets.
In disaster and emergency situations, State and Territory governments manage the emergency responses in their jurisdictions with support and coordination from the Australian Federal Government.
The 2019-2020 summer period highlighted the environmental issues Australia faces. This resulted in a Royal Commission to investigate how, as a nation, we can better coordinate, prepare, respond and recover to emergency events.
Australian Owned Company
CROSS Aviation is in the regulatory process to be the first Australian owned company to introduce Type 2 Fixed Wing air tankers into the national arsenal of aerial fire suppression assets. These proven, multi-role aircraft have been in operation overseas for over a decade and provide the following capabilities:
- Airtanker fire suppression with a drop capability of 10,000 litres of water, retardant or foam.
- In the passenger configuration, the aeroplane can carry 64 passengers.
- The cargo configuration allows 9000kg of cargo and can be configured as a combi aircraft with a mix of passengers and cargo.
- A medical evacuation capability can accommodate six stretchers along with the necessary nurses’ stations and life support equipment.
These Type 2 Fixed Wing aircraft provide a significantly higher capability and enhancements more suited to Australian infrastructure and believes that these Type 2 Fixed Wing aircraft provide the ideal utility solution for national disaster relief on a year-round basis fulfilling multiple roles.
The appropriate response to Australia’s need for fast, cost effective, multipurpose emergency response aircraft is clearly CROSS Asia Pacific Pty – CROSS Aviation.
